Student working on a motorcycleProgram Overview

Are you independent, patient, curious, mechanical? Can you follow instructions, problem solve, fix things at home? Would you like to have your own shop, work with your hands, improve and modify machines, work in a rewarding career?

Internal combustion engines power everything from motorcycles to lawn mowers to forklifts and tractors. In the Power Equipment and Motorcycle Technology program, students learn to keep all kinds of equipment in top operating condition by following a checklist to inspect and clean brakes, plugs, carburetors, electrical systems, hydraulic systems, diesel and gas engines. A thorough knowledge of the 2-stroke, 4-stroke, and diesel engines and the ability to analyze any malfunctions are required for both maintenance and repair. Whether these engines are attached to machines used in work or recreation, the ability to quickly resolve mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and fuel problems is highly valued in this technical world. Students can also earn college credit toward an Associate of Science Degree in Power Equipment and Sports Vehicle Technology.
